"The name G!kun||'homdima is from the Ju|'hoansi (Kung) people of Namibia. G!kun||'homdima is the beautiful aardvark girl of Ju|'hoan mythology, who sometimes appears in the stories of other San peoples as a python or as an elephant. She defends her people and punishes wrongdoers using gamigami spines, a rain-cloud full of hail, and her magical oryx horn.

Aardvark

The aardvark is a mainly nocturnal animal, it digs the earth to create a network of burrows that it uses as temporary homes in its territory and a main, deep and extensive burrow (up to about 13 meters) that they use to reproduce. The aardvark changes periodically the configuration of the ramifications of the main burrow and from time to time it moves to create another one.

They are fearful and lonely animals, that go to the surface at night to cover its territory of about 10 to 30 km. To feed himself, he uses his keen sense of smell to track ants and termites. When he discovers an anthill, he digs it quickly, his claws allow him to break the extremely hard bark of ant-hills and termite mounds while closing his nose to prevent dust from entering.
